However, if you would like to fix it on your own here you go:

Situation 1: You are trying to print something using local printer in Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7. You are trying to clear print job but spooler hangs.

Well, to escape from this loop do the following:

1) Stop Print Spooler services from services.msc or typing “net stop spooler” without quotes in Command Prompt.
2) Locate C:\%systemroot%\system32\spool folder and remove all items from this folder.
3) Start Print Spooler.

Now your print queue will be empty, but if you will try to print again you will get it hanging again. What’s the matter? Well, if your spooler doesn’t give you any errors and works great first thing I will look at is printer driver. Maybe you were using this printer for ages without problems, but your system is constantly changing – you get new updates, install new software and something can corrupt your drivers. Vendors of near all printers make updates in their printer drivers every year. So go and download fresh drivers for your printer.

Situation 2: You are trying to print to network printer in Windows Vista or 7. Getting the same result as in Situation 1.

Here is several tweaks you need to perform:

Go to Local Computer Policies\Administrative Templates\Printers

“Allow print spooler to accept client connections” > Set it to “Enabled”

allow client connections if spooler hangs

User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Control Panel\Printers\

“Point and Print Restrictions” > Set it to “Disabled”

Reboot your PC and try printing again.

If print spooler hangs again use Printer Spooler Fix Wizard – it is guarantee to fix your problem in a few minutes.
